5 Great Places To Download MP3s Online
60Where can you get your music for free and legal?
I have also had a lot of people ask me about free legal mp3 downloads because as some of you know the more popular Napster has been shut down a time or two.
Well here are my answers.
I do not care how tirelessly the RIAA works at shutting down P2P networks (peer-to-peer) they are always going to exist and personally I do not recommend P2P applications for several reasons, the number 1 reason being....its ILLEGAL.
But good news!!! You can still get free mp3's and lots of them from websites and they are legal...and did I mention free?
Below is a list of the Top 5 of mine that I personally use:
1.) ilike.com: This site is a little different in the respect that its like a community where you can have friends and socialize with other downloaders. I like this site because it has a lot to choose from.
2.) Stereogum: This site has been around quite awhile and offers a lot to choose from. Its also a place to get good streams.
3.) Garageband: This is a great place to find and discover independant artists who have not been signed by a label yet. I have found some really great music here.
4.) mp3.com: They have a huge range of music that can be downloaded as well as streamed.

5.) Music.download.com: Basically this is CNET but they have tons of free music and free is free!
I certainly hope this helps anyone who is looking for great music but can't always afford iTunes and its legal, and again FREE!!!

Thanks for the answer, Jenn! You should make the links to the sites actual hyperlinks so that people don't have to copy and paste. You can do that by selecting the ink text and clicking the 'add a link' button in the Text Capsule toolbar. It looks like a blue number 8, only sideways. :)
